Project Overview
In 2021, Kinetic secured the contract to operate Melbourne’s Metropolitan Bus Franchise (MBF), taking responsibility for over a third of the city’s bus network. With a growing fleet of over 500 buses and a commitment to sustainability – including the rollout of 36 electric buses by 2025 – Kinetic needed a modern spray booth solution to maintain its vehicles at the highest standard. That’s where TruFlow came in.
Collaborative Planning & Tailored Design
Every great project starts with a great plan. Truflow’s journey with Kinetic began with an on-site consultation at their factory. Working alongside their management and electrical team, we discussed layout possibilities and the type of booths required. After measuring the space, we created a detailed 3D model integrating the proposed spray booths.
Once Kinetic provided feedback, we refined the design, costing out the project and making adjustments based on their evolving requirements. After four design revisions, the plan was approved by overseas management, and we got the green light to proceed.
Adaptive Problem-Solving During Construction
Like any large-scale installation, challenges arose. Midway through construction, Kinetic requested additional factory ventilation fans. We quickly assessed their needs, provided a quote, and incorporated the fans into the project – despite being well into the build.
Further delays came from site-specific hurdles, such as insufficient power supply and the absence of gas for booth heating. While these issues were resolved, we proceeded with installation and provided preliminary training. Once services were fully upgraded, we completed the final commissioning and delivered comprehensive staff training.
Ongoing Support & Partnership
At TruFlow, we know that a project doesn’t end when installation is complete. We continue to support Kinetic with training, troubleshooting, and breakdown assistance to ensure long-term performance.
