Overview of Telwater Project

When Telwater, the Southern Hemisphere’s largest aluminium boat manufacturer, needed to overhaul its painting operations, they partnered with TruFlow to engineer and install a state-of-the-art 126-metre integrated spray booth system. Built over six months and installed at Telwater’s site in Coomera on the Gold Coast, this 100% Australian-made solution delivers increased production capacity, efficiency and finish quality all while supporting Telwater’s future-ready manufacturing goals.

The Challenge of Telwater

With increasing demand for its Quintrex, Stacer and Savage boat ranges, Telwater required a custom-built, high-throughput paint line that could deliver consistent results at scale. The solution needed to accommodate both high-volume white boats and more specialised two-tone colour finishes – all within a temperature-controlled, environmentally managed workflow.

“We needed a partner who could understand the complexity of marine manufacturing, offer local support and deliver a high-performance solution without compromise. TruFlow stood out as the clear choice as their technical knowledge, responsiveness and Australian-made quality made them an ideal fit for this project.”
Brad Drake, Paint Workshop Manager, Telwater

The Solution

TruFlow designed, manufactured and installed a fully integrated, production-scale paint line consisting of:

  • 2 x 53-metre side-by-side production lines for streamlined white boat painting
  • 1 x 20-metre offline booth for colour-coding and two-tone finishes
  • Drive-through Clean/Masking Bay – ventilated and filtered for adhesion prep
  • XL Heated Etch Booth – with full downdraft airflow for aluminium base coats
  • Temperature-Controlled Pre-Heat Room – ensuring ideal substrate conditions
  • Production Line Full Downdraft Heated Booths – for high-volume top coats
  • Rapid Cure Drying Rooms – combining energy-saving recirculation with advanced turbulence jet drying
  • Offline Colour Booths – complete with integrated spray and bake capability

Every component was manufactured at TruFlow’s Melbourne facility and it was installed by TruFlow’s Queensland team.

This paint line is one of the most complex and rewarding projects we’ve delivered combining cutting-edge airflow technology with smart energy use and seamless production flow. It’s a showcase of what local manufacturing and close client collaboration can achieve.”
Chris Spencer, Group General Manager, TruFlow

The Result for Telwater

Now fully operational, the 126-metre paint line is already delivering measurable results. Telwater has significantly reduced curing times, optimised paint adhesion and increased throughput — all while improving environmental control and energy efficiency.

The setup ensures boats move from prep to final finish in a seamless flow, ready to meet the demands of local and global markets.

“The new TruFlow line has fundamentally transformed our painting process. We’ve been able to boost output while maintaining, and even improving, finish quality. The support from TruFlow throughout the project has been exceptional and the end result is a credit to both teams.”
Brad Drake, Paint Workshop Manager, Telwater
